AUGUST 2009 - Papa Mojo's Roadhouse Special Events |
We’re having a grand time on Tuesday nights these days. Our Party Gras Jazz Nights at the Roadhouse have taken off with a bang!! We’re proud to have the fabulous jazz trio of Brevan Hampden, Al Strong, and Mark Wells entertaining folks from 8:00 to 10:30. If you haven’t been down for one of their shows yet - you’re missing a great midweek treat! Advance ticket sales for the STEVE RILEY & THE MAMOU PLAYBOYS show (July 31) started this Tuesday, and we’ve had a great response so far. The opportunity to see nationally recognized talent in an intimate setting like this for $25 doesn’t come often, and we’re proud to be hosting this show with TRACZA (Triangle Area Cajun/Zydeco Assoc.). If you love tried n’ true Cajun Music - this is a show you won’t want to miss! You may call us (919-361-2222) or come down in person for tickets. for more info: http://www.mamouplayboys.com
Our August music roster is sizzling with talent and it’s hands-down one of our best line ups of the season. It may even make for some hard decisions for the music aficionados in our ranks! Choices include:
--Joe Bell & the Stinging Blades (8/7)
(l-r) Big Mama E (Emma Davis), The Fairlanes, Will McFarlane, Joe Bell & the Stinging Blades, Mel Melton & the Wicked Mojos We’re also excited to welcome two first-timers to the Roadhouse: --Carolina Gator Gumbo (8/15) - we’ve been wanting to bring these folks in from Charlotte for some time now. They’re known for their festive & infectious blend of Cajun/Creole music.
--Cyril Lance (8/28) - Longtime Mojo’s alumni, Cyril and his band weave an energetic and spontaneous mix of deep blues with funk, R&B, rock — they’ll take you on an engaging journey through Americana that you won’t forget! As always, you can read up on all of these bands (and link to their web sites) from our music schedule listing.
