FAT Tuesday - MARDIS GRAS - Feb 18- $10 Shamu Garcon - 6pm Led by fiddler and vocalist Chris Mankoff, Shamu Garcon features a rotating lineup of the Triangle's finest Cajun country musicians. Alternating high energy two-steps with lilting waltz's, the band is the perfect accompaniment to a night of Cajun dancing.
Rhonda Robichaux leads her band with the enticing combination of her sultry vocals and swampy guitar, blending a NOLA flavor to blues, swing, jazz, samba, funk, classics and originals. She's played with many great musicians over the years, including George Porter, Jr., Harvey Arnold, Shan Tucker, F.J. Ventre, John Curry, Mel Melton and so many others over the years. Rhonda relocated to the Triangle from New Orleans in 2000, and her new RRB is her best yet. She recruited veteran performers Tommy Hartley (guitar, keys vocals), Joel Sugarman (bass) & Kevin Johnson (drums) to give her the backing she needs to continue expanding her musical resume′. The Rhonda Robichaux Band offers a cool, NOLA flavored sound, with an innovative and diverse mix of songs from slow and gritty to 2nd line and other funky grooves that will keep the dance floor hopping all night!
